Coach Kelechi Emeteole ‘Caterpillar’ has lost his battle with throat cancer after he passed on in India, his family has announced.
Emeteole’s wife, who has been with her husband in India for treatment for the past two months, informed a close confidant of the coach, Solomon Onu, that he has passed away.
Coach Emeteole was once an assistant Super Eagles coach under Shuaibu Amodu.
He handled several top clubs including Heartland, Enugu Rangers and El Kanemi Warriors.
In his playing days, he won 17 caps for Nigeria and won his nickname ‘Caterpillar’ because of his uncompromising approach as a defender.
