Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, yesterday, distanced themselves from the party’s local government congress held across the 44 councils of the state.

The congress, which witnessed early turnout of party delegates, was devoid of skirmishes and violence.

It was gathered that delegates at the local government areas within the municipality, including Gwale, Municipal, Nassarawa, Kumbotso, Dala and Tarauni, where the congress held, converged as at 8:00 a.m., waiting for electoral materials.

The state Commissioner for Information, Mallam Mohammad Garba, said the APC leadership ensured transparency and open participation of bonafide delegates.

He said: “Anybody who did not participate in the congress is not a bonafide member. So, I must commend the party’s leadership in the state, and we are grateful to His Excellency for his openness.”

Efforts to reach the controversial chairman of APC and staunch ally of Senator Kwankwaso,Umar Haruna Doguwa, were not successful.
